How to Create Perfect Eyebrows

“My brows are too bushy!” “My brows are too thin!” I have only met a few ladies who are actually happy with their brows!  Brows are so important. They “frame” the face. “Well-arched, groomed brows play a role in balancing features, like your eyes, nose, forehead and the length of your face,” explains Beverly Hills-based eyebrow expert Anastasia Soare, who has groomed celebrities including Kim Kardashian, Megan Fox and Jennifer Lopez.

How do I create perfect eyebrows?

1) Place a pencil next to the side of your nose; line the pencil straight up and down. Directly above the pencil is where the brow should start. Hairs that are on the inner side of the pencil, towards the top of the nose, need to be removed. If hair is lacking on the other side of the pencil, where the eyebrow start, mark the area with a brow pencil as a guide to fill in that area.

2) Take the pencil and keep the bottom of it in place, pivot it outward so it lines up with the outer edge of your eye. This is where the eyebrow should end.

3) Take the pencil and pivot it back towards the outer edge of your pupil. This is where the brow should arch.  Mark it so you know where to tweeze a bit more when you get to the area.

4) Once the shape is determined, decide which technique works best for you. There are brow pencils, brow palettes, brow mascara etc. No matter which technique you are using, make sure you are using “feathery strokes” so that is appears very natural.

Here is a trick of the trade for creating perfect eyebrows:

Brush a clear or brown shade of mascara through the eyebrows (wipe with a tissue prior to remove any excess).   This creates definition and determines where the eyebrows need to be filled in, if at all.   If you see space/skin behind the hairs and want to fill them in, use a pencil or angled brush with powder and apply with a light, feathery touch. Using two colors makes the overall look more natural.   Brunettes, use light brown and dark brown. Blondes, use blonde and light brown. If you have dark hair, use dark brown and black. Play until you achieve the look you love!

Airbrush Makeup vs. Traditional Makeup

Airbrush or Traditional Makeup Application?

As a professional makeup artist in the industry, I get this question quite often…”What’s the difference between airbrush makeup and traditional makeup?”  The answer is BIG!  When you’re having your makeup done professionally for an occasion, such as a wedding, your picture is going to be taken countless times for numerous hours, airbrush makeup is the answer to your prayers.

Airbrush makeup comes as water based, alcohol based or silicone based.  Water based has a matte finish and silicone based has a dewy finish.  Alcohol based is generally used for tattoo coverage and not flattering to the face.  In my experiences, I have found that all formulas last approximately 14 hours, is sweat proof and can be relatively waterproof.  Airbrush makeup goes on with an air compressor which, when done correctly,  should not appear “cakey” or heavy and should leave a flawless finish.  In fact, many of my clients have said that it doesn’t even feel like they are wearing makeup.  Check out the gallery of photos on – the majority of those girls have been airbrushed.

Traditional makeup is your typical liquid foundation.  It’s applied with the artists’ fingers, sponge or brush.   The application, regardless of technique, tends to have a heavier feel and look.  It has a lasting power of approximately 8 hours and most brands are not sweat proof or waterproof.  In fact, many brands of traditional makeup have an SPF which does not photograph well.  It often leaves the subject looking “pasty” or “ghost-like”.

The best way to find out which type of makeup is best suited for your skin, call me and we can set up a makeup consultation.  As the owner and instructor of Team Beauti, I specialize in airbrush makeup application and can help you make the best choice for you.

Team Beauti ~ Our Reputation Ranks!

Team Beauti and its reputation speaks for itself.  With 20 talented professionals, we can provide our services to all the “brides to be” in South Florida!

Read this email sent to us from Elaine, our 4/26/14 bride:

First, Ashley Davis, Team Beauti Hair Stylist – she’s amazing! She is the consummate hair professional never losing her cool. She was patient and kind and awesome. I LOVED how my hair design looked and felt on my wedding day. The first pull back we tried didn’t look right and she didn’t miss a beat keeping me comfortable and assured. Looking back at my engagement pictures, I know why I was so confident with Ashley. She’s terrific.

Next, Mary Bruggeman, Team Beauti Hair Stylist – Mary was meant to be with us. We had a medical emergency, as you know – my young niece had a seizure early Saturday morning. Mary shared her personal connection and kept us calm and hopeful. She was an angel and I was grateful she was there. Mary did my sister Amy’s hair and other nieces. She was kind and compassionate and talented. She and Ashley smartly advised us when we wondered if Amy’s early curls were too curly – by the end of the night Amy’s waves were super and sexy. Amy’s gorgeous hair style added to her stunning beauty.

And what could I say about Deb Hoefl, Team Beauti Makeup Artist – no wonder she’s your best friend. She was simply the best! All three of us – my mom, my sister, and me – felt stunning!! Deb was the beating heart of our time together. We were radiant because of Deb. Her radiance came with us all night.

I loved Team Beauti, loved getting to know you, and absolutely look forward to recommending your services again.
Hope to see you soon,

Proud of the team I have created!

Mini “Beauti” Haul

Recently, I went to the store purposely to buy some shower gel and just like every other woman, we can’t just go to the store without leaving with some beauty products. I couldn’t resist. But…instead of splurging I only bought what I really needed. Here are some of the goodies that I bought and tried and I must say, I love them!

Cover Girl Whipped Crème Foundation:  A little goes a long way with this product. Just tap a little on your foundation sponge or brush and blend away. You can keep applying the product until you have the desired coverage you like. This product is great for on the go or a night out with your girls.

Josie Maran Argan Oil Moisturizer:  What I love about this moisturizer is how hydrated it leaves the skin. Being that I got the Light Moisturizer, if you have oily skin it won’t leave it any oilier. This product is great for daytime or if you want to use it as a night repair for your skin.

Blotting sheets:  I tend to carry blotting sheets everywhere I go. It’s very beneficial to carry these because we all have the potential to get a little oily or sweaty during the day and instead of adding more powder and product to the face we can just use these sheets to wipe away any unwanted oil.

NYC Big Bold Mascara:  If you have small lashes or even if you have long beautiful eyelashes and want to make them even longer, this mascara is for you! The best part about it; it’s only $2.99!

Wet N Wild Lip Stain: This is a go-to product for every woman! This lip stain not only gives you great color but it lasts all day! If you’re like me and hate reapplying lipstick then you need to buy a couple of these. The company has about 4 different shades so go ahead try them all out ladies!
