“My brows are too bushy!” “My brows are too thin!” I have only met a few ladies who are actually happy with their brows! Brows are so important. They “frame” the face. “Well-arched, groomed brows play a role in balancing features, like your eyes, nose, forehead and the length of your face,” explains Beverly Hills-based eyebrow expert Anastasia Soare, who has groomed celebrities including Kim Kardashian, Megan Fox and Jennifer Lopez.
How do I create perfect eyebrows?
1) Place a pencil next to the side of your nose; line the pencil straight up and down. Directly above the pencil is where the brow should start. Hairs that are on the inner side of the pencil, towards the top of the nose, need to be removed. If hair is lacking on the other side of the pencil, where the eyebrow start, mark the area with a brow pencil as a guide to fill in that area.
2) Take the pencil and keep the bottom of it in place, pivot it outward so it lines up with the outer edge of your eye. This is where the eyebrow should end.
3) Take the pencil and pivot it back towards the outer edge of your pupil. This is where the brow should arch. Mark it so you know where to tweeze a bit more when you get to the area.
4) Once the shape is determined, decide which technique works best for you. There are brow pencils, brow palettes, brow mascara etc. No matter which technique you are using, make sure you are using “feathery strokes” so that is appears very natural.
Here is a trick of the trade for creating perfect eyebrows:
Brush a clear or brown shade of mascara through the eyebrows (wipe with a tissue prior to remove any excess). This creates definition and determines where the eyebrows need to be filled in, if at all. If you see space/skin behind the hairs and want to fill them in, use a pencil or angled brush with powder and apply with a light, feathery touch. Using two colors makes the overall look more natural. Brunettes, use light brown and dark brown. Blondes, use blonde and light brown. If you have dark hair, use dark brown and black. Play until you achieve the look you love!
